Wrapping up the year, toasting to the next!

As 2023 comes to an end, we can look back and agree that it's been a year marked by highs and lows. We've all faced challenges, and celebrated victories. RenEnergy tackled these hurdles and grew stronger.

We can't overlook the energy crisis faced by South Africans.  These challenges have been a constant, impacting daily life and business operations. The struggle for consistent and reliable power has been a shared experience, reflecting a national concern that calls for change and resourcefulness. But we are a resilient nation, and we turn obstacles into opportunities. It speaks to the strength and determination of the South African people.

I'm truly grateful for the hard work and dedication of my colleagues. Their tireless efforts and commitment to our clients have helped us achieve the milestones we set out to accomplish, and I recognise that our shared success speaks volumes about the strength of our collaborative efforts.

Thank you to all our clients for your ongoing support and partnership, which remains fundamental to our success. More than half our projects this year were clients returning to RenEnergy for second or third  phases in their energy journeys, which is a testament of our commitment to partnering with you in achieving energy security. We value the trust you place in us and look forward to serving you with the same commitment in the future.

The tremendous growth we've experienced has prompted a shift in our mindset and approach, and I eagerly anticipate the coming year as we continue to build on this growth. I would like to wish you all a safe and peaceful festive season and a happy and healthy 2024! I asked some of our leadership team for their year-end thoughts and this is what they shared:

Powering through

Reflecting on the past year, Anel Peters-Arendse, HR and Business Administration Manager, celebrated significant milestones, such as her 10-year work anniversary. She welcomed 13 new faces to our family, with a series of projects showcasing our collective efficiency and commitment to providing South African businesses with bespoke solar PV designs and installations. Looking ahead to 2024, Anel shares her vision for our continued growth, stating, "Our commitment to expanding our workforce, supporting staff pursuing further education and developing our internal academy – RenAcademy – reflects our dedication to continuous learning and professional development. Through apprenticeships, we aim to provide students with valuable practical experience, fostering growth within the renewable energy industry." Her hopes for 2024 centre on achievements, growth and a strong commitment to personal and professional development.

Boeta Jordaan, our Technical Project Manager, reflects on a year filled with blessings and numerous opportunities that materialised into reality, each with valuable lessons learnt. Going into 2024, he carries a grateful heart and excitement for the journey ahead, eager to embrace new experiences and continue learning and growing. He expresses his sentiments, saying, "2023 was a year of great opportunities and lessons. As we step into 2024, I'm filled with gratitude for the blessings of the past year and excitement for what lies ahead. There's a lot to learn, and I'm ready to embrace the challenges and growth that the new year will undoubtedly bring."

Our International Brand and Marketing Manager Christine Bombal highlights the supportive environment for women in leadership roles and our workplace culture that values diversity and understands the importance of balancing work and life. “We operate within a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a strong philosophy of understanding that ‘life happens’,” she shares. “RenEnergy allows me to thrive as  a working mother, and I am excited to continue contributing to a company that not only values its employees but also champions strong women, diversity and overall mental health and well-being.” Looking forward to 2024, Christine is excited about our company’s marketing and growth strategies. She sees RenEnergy as a game changer  in an industry that makes a significant impact on the energy sector, our natural environment, our country and our people.

In reflecting on our journey this year, our Chief Operating Officer Raphaël Devantier shares his insights on the unprecedented growth witnessed not only for RenEnergy, but for the industry as a whole. "The renewable energy landscape in South Africa has matured significantly, serving as a key facilitator for improved market access and responsiveness - the likes of which we have not seen before," he says. As we've navigated this shift in the sector's dynamics, he highlights the importance of our investments in capacity and operational readiness, a strategic response to the increased market receptiveness. Grounded in an unwavering commitment to value creation, Raphaël sees RenEnergy well-positioned to support the ongoing growth trajectory anticipated for 2024 and beyond.
